The Council of Commanders of the Border Troops (CCBT) of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) convened its 86th meeting in Baku on June 8.
Along with the Republic of Azerbaijan, the event brought together border services of Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Armenia, Coordinating Service of the CIS, Executive Committee of the CIS, CIS Anti-Terrorism Center, Office for the Coordination of the Fight Against Organized Crime and Other Dangerous Types of Crime on the Territory of CIS member-states, delegations of the Coordinating Council of the International Union of Public Unions of Border Service Veterans and honored guests.
The State Border Service of Azerbaijan participates as an observer at the meetings of the CCBT, which has been coordinating since 1992 the issues of cooperation in the field of ensuring border security between the CIS member countries. In 2001, 2008, 2013 and 2017 Baku hosted the 40th, 60th, 70th and 78th meetings respectively.
The heads of the delegations laid wreath on the tombstone of the National Leader Heydar Aliyev at the Lane of Honor and paid tributes to his memory.
During the meeting, the issues related to the situation at the external borders of the CIS member countries and its development, ongoing in 2023 and planned for 2024 joint operations to suppress illegal activities at the external borders of the CIS member countries, staff, educational-scientific activities and organization of the 87th meeting of the CCBT were considered.
In the framework of the event delegations held bilateral meetings, discussed the issues of mutual interest.
Besides, the participants got familiarized with the activities of the structural units of the State Border Service.
